The story
behind the picture
On the evening of December 19th 1999, after the longest rehearsal in
history - Sir Paul McCartney was finally allowed back into The Cavern
- and after passing through the "Lucky Dip" ticket allocation
so was I. Yes I was one of the fortunate few to receive a ticket. Despite
some very tempting offers in the local press (£10,000 per
ticket) and a grilling from an American TV crew who asked the obvious
question "What would it take to make you give up your ticket ?",
to which my reply was "Lady, give me 5000 acres of Texas and a
face like Brad Pitt and I'll think about it !!" - down we all went
for the show.
Everything that can be said, has already been said about the gig, so
I won't waste your time here by repeating it, however take it from me
it was very, very FAB ! - Sadly I had forgotten my camera that
night (not like me), which would have been removed by the guards, but
there where some very naughty people in the rave cave that night
who had not forgotten theirs ! - and I managed to borrow one. That was
it - I was off snapping like mad till the roll of film was finished,
a £10.00 note bought me the film and the camera was returned to
my newest best friend, who I hadn't seen since ! If there is ever a
prize for photographing dandruff then that prize is mine !, because
that is almost all that I achieved, however, I was double lucky that
night because the one good picture I took was Macca standing right before
me - I Saw Him Standing There.
